why do we obey the state
Up to Forum
I find the answer to this elusive. Questioning why even when the party we vote for is not elected do citizens obey the law brings up a whole host of other questions, such as: the basis of obligation and authority, the culture and the socialisation necessary for a functioning government.
Particularly pertanent to this is the changing landscape of authority and increasing apathy towards politics. I'm thinking here of the medias influence over policy and politics, the 'spin' involved in establishing authority has real implications for both policy and society, especially in regards to basis of obligation.
