The MPC has replaced Tim Besley with Adam Posen (hat tip to David Smith).  Posen is a name familiar to me from debates about the plight of Japan since 1990: Krugman mentions him favourably in this regard, and seems to use his name when he wants to criticise the US government taking half-measures to fix the financial crisis.  Posen is apparently a fan of fiscal action during a depression, though Tyler Cowen can find alternative explanations for how government spending worked for Japan.

This will be interesting - I look forward to his first speech in the new role.
